Government Relations

On behalf of Georgia’s 41 EMCs that serve more than 4.4 million Georgians, Georgia EMC works at state and federal levels to ensure bills, rules and regulations do not affect an EMC’s ability to provide safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to its communities, along with other essential services – like broadband. The Government Relations team builds and supports relationships with elected officials, staff, and other policy influencers, coordinating grassroots advocacy through Plugged In Georgia, and financial support to candidates through Georgia EMC PAC and America’s Electric Cooperative PAC.

Advocacy

Plugged In Georgia

Plugged In Georgia is a grassroots advocacy platform, designed specifically for Georgia’s 41 EMCs, that allows EMC members and advocates to receive the latest updates on legislation impacting Georgia’s electric market. Plugged In Georgia gives users the ability to connect directly with their legislators and share EMC policy positions on proposals that impact the EMCs’ mission of delivering safe, reliable and affordable electricity.

Georgia EMC PAC

The Georgia EMC PAC is the political action committee of Georgia’s 41 EMCs, Oglethorpe Power Corp., Georgia Transmission Corp., Georgia System Operations Corp., affiliated organizations, and other allies. Georgia EMC PAC supports candidates for statewide office and the Georgia General Assembly who support electric cooperative goals, who share electric cooperative values and who want our state’s electric cooperatives to be successful. Georgia EMC PAC raises personal, voluntary contributions from EMC directors, employees, friends, and family throughout the state of Georgia. No EMC member-owner funds are used for PAC contributions to elected officials, as specified by statute.

America's Electric Cooperatives PAC

America’s Electric Cooperatives PAC (formerly ACRE®) is the federal political action committee (PAC) of the nation’s electric co-ops. NRECA’s PAC supports political candidates who will speak for and protect the interests of electric co-ops and their consumer-owners.
