OVERVIEW: Attendee will learn the basics of power delivery and distribution from generation down to the end user. Program will begin with an introduction to the Electrical Cooperative business format and will explain the Seven Cooperative Principles. After that, the attendee will learn about how power is delivered to the home, how power is restored during inclement weather, and how the mutual aid process works during power restoration. This program serves as an introductory piece to the Coop world and provides a foundation for the electrical distribution process.
Those who would benefit include: o New Hires Across All Departments – especially those in admin, billing, HR, or communications with little technical background. o Member Services Representatives – who need to explain outages, billing, or restoration processes to members. o Community & Economic Development Staff – who represent the co-op externally. o Communications/PR Professionals – who craft messaging about outages, storms, or co-op operations.
Why: It’s a foundational class—perfect for orientation and giving non-technical staff confidence in explaining “how the co-op works.”
April 23 and September 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – lunch is provided
Instructor: Chellie Phillips Price for EMC Employees: $400/pp
