Please enter your full legal name below.
Please enter the name you like to be called below (if different than above).

Please read this checklist of competition rules carefully.

The applicant must meet all qualifications below:

  • Be a junior or senior in high school to apply.
  • Be at least 16 years of age by the first day of the trip.
  • Be a child or grandchild of an EMC or Georgia EMC director or employee who is not eligible to apply for the tour through their EMC’s contest.
  • Complete and submit all the applicant information requested on the entry form by the Feb. 15 deadline.
Cooperatives in Georgia and around the world set themselves apart from other businesses by operating according to the same set of core principles and values – the Seven Cooperative Principles. One of those principles is “Concern for Community.”
Explain how your electric membership cooperative demonstrates this principle in your home town, and in addition, describe how you have contributed to your community and why you chose the activities in which you participate. Why would you be the best representative of the values of Georgia’s EMCs on the 2020 Washington Youth Tour?
Include in this document why you would like to participate in the Youth Tour. (500 – 1000 words)

The autobiography should include information on the applicant’s involvement in the community, awards, achievements, affiliations, etc. The autobiography should be written in a “blind” style – leaving out all reference to names and places that would identify the location of the applicant. (For example, the applicant can list involvement on the local high school student council, but should not name the school.) The only identifying reference should be the applicant’s name at the top of the autobiography.

Use the button below to attach your autobiography.

Entry must be submitted no later than Feb. 15, 2020   by using the “Submit” button at the end of this document. *You must have an internet connection to submit your form. Send any questions to

Entrants will receive an e-mail confirming the receipt of their application. Entries will be judged by 5-7 representatives from EMCs that do not have any contest entries. Two applicants will be chosen to attend the trip and will be notified on or before March 12, 2020. Statewide Contest participants are funded by the electric cooperatives in Georgia participating in the Georgia EMC Washington Youth Tour program.
