Spring and Fall Safety Coordinator Conferences (2-Day Sessions)

Harry Reeves, Georgia EMC’s Vice President of Training, Education, & Safety, conducts the Spring and Fall Safety Coordinators’ Conferences.

These sessions enable safety personnel from Georgia’s EMCs to meet twice a year to share ideas and experiences. Topics covered during previous conferences include:

Post Accident Review, Terrorism in the Electrical Industry, Drug Training, OSHA Recordkeeping and Ergonomics Update, Spill Response, Trenching and Excavation, CPR/First Aid products, and many others. Time is allotted at each conference for a roundtable discussion.

NRECA Safety Accreditation Program

NRECA’s Rural Electrification Safety Accreditation Program is designed “to inform and promote safety and loss control concepts in the interest of the employees and the public served; for the preservation of life and the prevention of injury; and to aid in the reduction of escalating costs associated with preventable injuries and/or death.” Visit www.nreca.org for details.

Georgia EMC is responsible for coordinating and advising Georgia’s EMCs who wish to participate and apply for accreditation. Based on a three-year review period, the accreditation process involves three steps:

  1. Complete an online application that represents a collaborative record of the EMC’s safety policies and procedures.
  2. An on-site field observation is conducted for the purpose evaluating the physical aspects of the EMC.
  3. The online application and observation forms are submitted to the RE Safety Accreditation Committee for review.

Harry Reeves, Georgia EMC’s Vice President of Training, Education & Safety, is the NRECA RE Safety Accreditation Program Administrator for Georgia’s EMCs. Please contact Harry Reeves for details regarding your EMC.
