Effective Communication and Writing in Business
In response to COVID-19, course will take place via WebEx
Part 1: 9:30am-11:30am
Part 2: 1:00pm-3:00pm
Participants will discuss the many modes of communication in the workplace. First, participants will examine the idea of continuous improvement through giving and receiving feedback in the professional setting; formal processes, such as performance evaluations, are in place for focused, intentional review. Other, less formal, modes of communication also exist and are essential for productivity. Through guided discussion and experiential exercises, participants will explore their sphere of influence and the situation-behavior-impact model. Participants will be encouraged to investigate the pitfalls of communication and remedies for each. At the end of the course, participants will be better prepared to communication effectively—both formally and informally—with their colleagues, supervisors, and teams.
Writing is a key method of communication when doing business, and for many employees, it is a skill with which they struggle. The writing workshop portion of this course will give participants a refresher on basic writing concepts such as spelling, grammar, and punctuation. It will also provide an overview of the most common business documents such as emails, proposals, reports, and agendas.
The tuition for this course is $175 per participant and includes course materials and lunch. Your cooperative will be invoiced upon completion of the course. If you have any additional questions, please contact Lauren Dodson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
