The original date for the Advanced Financial Statements was June 22nd-23rd. Unfortunately,  the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to postpone the first course in the series, the Basic Accounting Statements course. As a result, we have made the decision to reschedule the course for July 20-21st.  In an effort to make the course available to all interested participants, we have worked with our instructors to deliver the course via WebEx. The course will take place on July 20th and July 21st via WebEx from 9:00-11:00 am. In order to register for this class, you must include a valid email address so that the training coordinator can provide you with the login information. 

481.G1 Advanced Financial Statements Form 7 and Form 990

This day course  covers the advanced topics of utility accounting, financial statement preparation, disclosures and tax and other compliance.  Individuals responsible for the financial and tax reporting of their Cooperatives require an understanding of financial reporting, disclosure and tax provisions applicable to the utility accounting industry. This course will cover advancing topics of utility operations, terminology, reporting and compliance provisions of relevant accounting and tax topics: As well as, provide an in-depth overview of accounting, reporting, tax and other compliance for the utility industry (e.g., GAAP, FERC, Mortgage Lenders, FEMA, IRS and Other), including understanding of accounting concepts and standards, preparing financial statements, analyzing operations, benchmarking, general and subsidiary ledger maintenance and tax and other compliance aspects.

Meet Your Instructors

Terry McMichael

Terry McMichael is a 2005 graduate of the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, and has been practicing public accounting for 14 years in McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks and Co.'s Not-For-Profit group. Terry was admitted as a Partner of McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks and Co in 2015. He is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, AICPA, Chartered Global Management Accountants and National Association for Cooperative Accountants with a primary practice focus in audit and taxation of Not-For-Profit organizations in the Southeastern United States.

Jason Peacock

Jason A. Peacock is a partner at McNair, McLemore, Middlebrooks and & Co., LLC and a member of the firm’s electric utility practice group. He has over 20 years audit experience specializing in not-for-profit entities with an emphasis in electric utility related audits and special projects.  He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds his Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) credential. In addition, he is a member of the AICPA, Georgia Society of CPAs, and several professional accounting associations.
