Georgia EMC is pleased to announce a partnership with NRECA to offeronline director education courses to the EMC Directors of Georgia this summer. We will offer the previously postponed 929.1 Current Governance Issus in Policy Development on July 23-24th from 9:00-12:00 on both days. Like our classroom-based offerings, these courses feature top instructors, group discussions and co-op specific content. Each course is divided into two sessions that are delivered over two consecutive days. After completing both days of the course, participants will earn one credit toward director education certificate requirements.

Policies set the standard for board behavior. Attendees learn to view policies as proactive tools to establish a standard of board behavior required for governance in today's electric cooperative boardroom. This course revisits the fundamentals of governance and the roles policies play in contributing to effective governance.

Participants take part in discussions about current issues facing rural electric cooperatives and how the governance function contributes to the cooperative and adds value. As these issues are discussed and debated, a sample set of policies are used to show examples of policies relevant to addressing today's governance issues.

Check out the video preview.

  • Discussion of current issues facing rural electric cooperative boards, and how policies are coming into play

  • A suggested standardized policy structure and format

  • A successful approach for reviewing and updating your cooperative's governing policies

In an effort to minimize cost for EMCs, we have created a tiered pricing structure for the courses. We must have a minimum of 15 participants registered for each course. EMCs will be invoiced, according to the following table, upon completion of the courses.
